Repalle,
India, Free Clinic
Metis
Acupuncture Clinics’ current humanitarian project is the
Repalle free clinic. Repalle is located in southeastern
India, in the state of Andra Pradesh. It is surrounded by
rice fields. Many of its residents are farmers, who do not
have access to affordable health care. Repalle is the
hometown of Metis Clinics founder, Anita Tadavarthy.
Anita served
with her family and classmates in the Repalle free clinic
for four months. The clinic treated 100 patients a day and
had over 5,000 patient visits in total. The clinic treated
conditions ranging from allergies to infertility. However,
since most of the town’s residents are agricultural workers,
the clinic primarily treated pain, mostly back and knee
pain.
Anita hopes
to return to her hometown of Repalle every year to serve.
Long-term, Anita, with the help of her family and friends,
hopes to establish a free hospital where Repalle residents
can receive surgery, specifically back and knee surgery, for
free.

I am a 66
year old rice mill worker. I have been suffering from knee
pain since 10 years. I joined the Acupuncture Free Medical
Camp held on 5th, December 2007. I got relief from the knee
pain in 4 sittings only. For further maintenance, I will
